Cllr Roger Berrington - Town Mayor 2004/2005

Congratulations to Mr Berrington who raised a total of £1,967.75 towards the Braunstone Town Community Minibus and Rainbows Children's Hospice.

Congratulations to Mr Roger Berrington who was appointed Town Mayor on 13th May 2004. Mr Berrington has chosen to to support both the Rainbows Children's Hospice and the Braunstone Town Community Minibus throughout his term in office. Mr Berrington's wife, Rene, will be acting as his consort throughout the year.

The Town Council wishes Mr Berrington a very enjoyable year.

Presentation of awards and certificates at Kingsway Rangers Football Club Soccer School on 2nd June 2004.

Presentation of shield to the winning team at the Braunstone Swimming Club at Winstanley Community College - 9th June 2004.

Official opening of Church Field, St Peter's Church - 12th June.

July 2004

Civic Reception hosted by the Chair of Blaby District Council, 3rd July 2004.

The Thorpe Astley Community Association's Summer Fayre - Sunday 4th July.

September 2004

5th September - Braunstone West Social Centre's 50th Anniversary.

9th September - Judging of the Front Garden Competition and presentation of certificates to the prizewinners at the full meeting of the Council on 9th September 2004.

12th September - Mr Berrington was accompanied by Mrs J Cottrell-Gilhooly to RAFA's Annual Battle of Britain event.

18th September - Millfield School opening of the school's new building.

19th September- Cleveleys Avenue Summer Gala - attended by the Deputy Town Mayor, Mr P Moitt.

19th September - RAFA Battle of Britain event.

24th September - Hathern Band Concert at the Civic Centre in aid of RAFA and the Town Mayor's Charity.

15th October - Um-Pah Evening at Braunstone Civic Centre in aid of Rainbows and the Braunstone Town Community Minibus

14th November - Service of Remembrance at Christ Church, by invitation of the Royal Air Forces Association (to be attended by the Deputy Town Mayor, Mr P Moitt).

14th November - Civic Reception following the Service of Remembrance, at the Braunstone Civic Centre

Tribute To Abba Friday 26th November 2004 at Braunstone Civic Centre, 8pm. Net proceeds to be dontated to Town Mayor's Charity

DIWALI CELEBRATIONS

The photographs show Mr Berrington with the two young dancers and also councillors, dignatories and local residents that attended the event.The Town Mayor, Mr Roger Berrington, hosted a Diwali Celebration on Friday 5th November in the Council Chamber. Local residents were invited to attend the event which included dance displays by local young people and a meal. The Lord Mayor of Leicester also attended the event along with Braunstone Town and Blaby District Councillors. The event was a huge success enjoyed by all who attended.

Tour of Grove Park Commercial Centre

The Town Mayor, Mr Roger Berrington, was delighted to be invited to a tour of the Grove Park Commercial Centre by Mr Derick Penman, Chairman of the centre. Mr Penman has always been a great support to the Town Mayor and the Council and regularly donates to the Town Mayor's Charity.
