Bill and SharonAt the Annual Meeting of Braunstone Town Council (11th May 2017), Councillor Bill Wright was elected to serve as Town Mayor for 2017/2018, this will be the third time Bill has undertaken the role.
Nonetheless, in his acceptance speech, Councillor Wright said "it is a great privilege and honour to serve the Town and the Town Council as first citizen. And it is not a role that I will take for granted or take likely".

Councillor Wright will be supported through the year by his partner and follow Town Councillor, Sharon Betts.

During the year they will be raising money for Leicestershire children's charity, Rainbows, who provide support and hospice care for children and young people affected by life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.  One fundraising event already planned involves Bill abseiling down the tower at Meridian Fire Station, for which you can donate through Just Giving at: justgiving.com/fundraising/BraunstoneTownMayor
