Councillor Satindra Sangha, Town Mayor 2022 - 2023
Councillor Satindra Sangha - Town Mayor 2022-2023
Councillor Satindra Sangha was elected as Braunstone Town Council’s new Town Mayor for 2022/2023 at the Annual Meeting of the Council on Thursday 12th May.
I have been a member of Braunstone Town Council since 2018 and would like to say how honoured I feel to be given the opportunity to represent Braunstone Town as Town Mayor during 2022/2023.
Throughout this coming year, I will be supporting Rainbows Hospice as my chosen charity for my year as Town Mayor and my Consort for the year will be my son, Daniel.
Daniel is 9 years old and the Town Council is delighted that a young person will be taking up the role of supporting the Town Mayor for the year.
Daniel will be an excellent role model for young people in Braunstone Town to become involved in local council work and to meet the residents of the Town.
Councillor Tracey Shepherd has been elected as the Deputy Town Mayor and will be supporting Councillor Sangha throughout the year.

Proclamation for the new King Charles III
I began my year as Town Mayor attending events in the community to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the sense of celebration at such an extraordinary achievement by a very special lady will remain in our hearts and minds for years to come. Therefore, it was with great sadness that we received the news on 8th September that Her Majesty had passed away. In this Platinum Jubilee year, the Town Council will be planting trees this winter as part of the national Queen’s Canopy initiative. This important project will now take on a new meaning as well as acting as a permanent and lasting tribute in our community to our late Queen for the decades to come.
It has been a pleasure to host our community events. The weather was just right for the Town’s Summer Fete in August and many residents seemed to enjoy the day. Similarly, I was able to host “Apple Day” at the Community Orchard in October when we had good weather, a lot of activities and it was lovely to see the children enjoying picking apples and making apple juice.
Our annual Programme of Events is underway. The Diwali Celebrations in October was well supported by over 100 people. These events provide an opportunity for us to share what is good about our community and our community spirit, as well as raising vital funds to help support our community groups.
I am personally grateful to the organisations who put on these events since the programme also enables funds to be raised for my chosen charity, Rainbows Children’s Hospice. We think especially at this time of year of the children and families supported by the Hospice as they make the most of every precious moment. Thank you to everyone who has supported and plan to support these events.
All that remains is for me to wish you a happy and joyous Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2023.
Cllr. Satindra Sangha, Braunstone Town Mayor.
